       SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES

Suggested Activities

1. Extreme List Making

Please note down all thoughts you might have while interacting with each object. Any reflections, moments of analysis, questions or queries.

This will help you to record any engagement with the materials or objects, big or small.

For example, you could pick up an object, touch its surface, and feel its edges, gently. Then move to another object, and notice it might be the same on the surface, but its density significantly varies, or its surface is more or less brittle, it might even have a scent.

2. Slow Drawing, Deep Looking

In this activity I encourage you to record on paper, using any form of mark-making, the object or material you see in front of you. Sketch the object.

However, this is not actually about producing a recording of the material on the page, so don’t hyper-fixate on its accuracy or the visual aesthetic of your drawing. This activity is encouraging you to look deeply. To investigate and visually interrogate what is in front of you, and notice new intricacies. I am encouraging you to slow down.

You may place an object in front of you, record it, move it, touch it, orient it to your liking, and then record it again.

3. Discussion

Now, if you are not alone, get together with whomever is interacting with the collection with you, and discuss whatever you might have noticed.

You can now use your phone.
